Wedding on a yacht in Oslo

Twelve guests is not a whole wedding for most people. But for the ceremony, the reception or the photographs, a boat is hard to beat.

Request a charter

You get availability and a fixed price back, from the people who own the boats. Most wedding on a yacht in oslo run about 4 hours.

The honest part first

Twelve guests per boat. If sixty people are coming to your wedding, the boat is not the venue for the whole day. We say so now, because finding out in May is worse.

What the boat is good for is the part of the day meant to be small. The ceremony with the closest few. A reception for the wedding party before the dinner on land. Or an hour with the photographer, with nobody in the background.

The ceremony aboard

It can be done, but we are not the ones who conduct it. You bring your own officiant and handle the paperwork the usual way. The skipper puts the boat somewhere quiet without traffic, so that what is said can actually be heard.

The photographs

This is what the boat does best, and what surprises people most. An hour on the fjord gives your photographer light, water, the city as a backdrop and no strangers in frame. Late afternoon in June, the light is good enough that it is almost hard to take a bad picture.

The dress

It is fine, but tell us in advance. The skipper then sets up boarding without climbing, and picks a route with the dress in mind. Heels are a worse idea than the dress, and most people take them off on board anyway.

Food and drink

You bring your own, or have catering delivered to the quay. There is no galley on board. For a two-hour reception it is usually something sparkling and something light, and that is easy to arrange.

The weather, the one thing we do not control

If it blows too hard the skipper cancels, and it costs you nothing. We say that plainly because a wedding does not move as easily as a corporate outing. If your date cannot change, the plan should survive losing the boat.

Who you are dealing with

Us. We own all three boats. No broker passes your questions to an owner you never meet, and there is one party to deal with if something has to change while you are planning.

The boats you can pick from

We own all three ourselves. One price, and the person answering you has been on board.

Common questions

Can we be married on board?

Yes, but you bring your own officiant and handle the paperwork the usual way. The skipper holds the boat somewhere quiet while it takes place.

How many guests fit?

Twelve per boat, set by the certificate. For a larger wedding the boat suits the ceremony, the reception or the photographs rather than the whole day.

Is a wedding dress workable on board?

Yes. Tell us in advance and boarding is set up without climbing, with the route chosen accordingly. Heels are more of a problem than the dress.

What if the weather is bad on the day?

The skipper cancels and you pay nothing. But a wedding date cannot move, so the plan should survive losing the boat.
