Weddings and celebrations on board

Twelve guests is the maximum. That makes a yacht the wrong place for a big party and the right place for a close one: the engagement, the milestone birthday, the ceremony with only the nearest, or dinner the night before the wedding.

Why twelve is actually an advantage

On a boat nobody can go anywhere. That sounds limiting, and it is exactly why it works. Nobody disappears outside for forty minutes. Nobody ends up in a corner with the same three colleagues. The conversation stays together, and people who would otherwise never have spoken do.

Twelve around a table in a saloon with windows all the way around is a different evening from twelve in the corner of a restaurant. That is the whole point.

Getting married on board

Entirely possible, but the officiant is yours to arrange. We provide the boat, the skipper and a route that gives you somewhere calm when the moment comes.

Tell us the exact timing. There is a large difference between lying still in the lee of Håøya and trying to say your vows over engine noise and sea.

The photographer

Talk to us about when the pictures happen, not just that they happen. The skipper can put the boat where the light sits right and the water is flat. It takes ten minutes to plan and often saves half the shots.

Golden hour on the fjord in August is about as good as it gets in Norway. But it does not last long, and it arrives when it arrives.

Allow more time than you think

Eight hours is a sensible starting point for an evening that holds both cruising and a meal. A celebration has speeches, photographs, pauses and people taking their time, and everything runs longer on the water because nobody has anywhere else to be.

Rarely does anyone think the charter was too long. We hear the opposite often.

Let somebody else cook

You can bring your own, and many do. But for a celebration we suggest a chef or catering. The point of the evening is not for the bride's father to be stuck in the galley while everyone else is outside.

The weather, and an honest warning

Rain stops nothing. The saloons are indoors.

Wind and sea can stop a charter, and then we offer a new date or cancel without charge. For a celebration on a date that cannot move, it is worth knowing that limit exists. The odds are low but not zero, and we would rather say it now than explain it on the day.

If your date is fixed, tell us early. Then we can talk about which boat handles the most and plan a sheltered route from the start.

How to ask

Send a request with the date, the numbers and the occasion. Write what matters most: that sunset lands right, that the photographer gets an hour, that a grandparent needs step free access. We answer with what is possible and what it costs.
